Tug Hill, is known nationally as the recipient of consistent lake-effect snows. The area is crossed by hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails. The county also provides premier snowshoeing, cross-country and downhill skiing opportunities. To compliment the winter snowmobile trail network, Tug Hill is rapidly expanding its summertime ATV trail network. There are currently 100's of miles of legal ATV trails, and rapidly growing. The Black & Beaver Rivers provide flatwater & whitewater thrills for paddlers, while Lake Bonaparte is a popular summertime destination for boaters. Check out paddle routes here. Brook, brown & rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, tiger muskies, chain pickerel & walleyes are found in different reaches of the Black, Beaver & Oswegatchie rivers. Fishing is also popular in Lake Bonaparte. A healthy populations of deer, turkey, grouse and hare make Tug Hill a good hunting destination.
