Nestled high on a hillside overlooking the small beach town of Playa San Miguel, Cristal Azul is a truly private vacation get-away. Set on 16 secluded acres of dry tropical rain forest this property is perfect for groups and families of up to ten people.
A twenty-minute drive from the Punta Islita Airstrip south along the coastline of the Nicoya Peninsula, Cristal Azul is located in an area considered by many to be one of the last untouched gems of Costa Rica.

Our oversized open-air rancho is a great place to relax and also serves as the main gathering area. Set overlooking the pool it has enough room to let those who wish to relax do so in peace while giving game players room to enjoy themselves too.
Equipped with a professional pool table, foosball table, game closet and stereo, comfy teak furniture and hammocks, it is also the main dining area.
The infinity edge pool is always cool and refreshing and a favorite place to take in the incredible views that surround you during your stay.
Take beaks from the heat of the tropical sun and enjoy the cool shade of the palm-thatched rancho. A stunning view of the ocean, miles of undeveloped coastline along with abundance of flora, fauna, and wildlife are your only distractions!
In the evenings you can enjoy sunset cocktails poolside followed by dinner under the stars. The kitchen, located in the rancho, is simple and well equipped — as long as you are not planning to host a five course formal dinner.
The cabinas are quite cozy and a short distance from the often-active rancho and pool area and ensure a place to retreat for some solitude. Each overlooks the pacific with stunning oversized windows that accentuate the most spectacular view below.
Imagine relaxing in your cabina with the Pacific Ocean and local wildlife in front of you by day and the scattered lights of local fisherman dotting the horizon mixed in with the nighttime stars. Simply decorated with rustic furniture made by a local craftsman, the cabinas all have air conditioning, ceiling fans, hot water and unique tropical outdoor showers. A beach lover’s dream, the 10Km stretch of ocean is safe for swimmers of all levels, and in certain areas provides challenging surf for the more experienced.
Often deserted with never more than a few people in sight the beach at Cristal Azul is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet picnic in the shade of a palm tree or for a day of playing in the surf and sand.
An estuary provides sanctuary from the waves if you feel like quietly basking in calm cool water. Enjoy a long walk shell seeking or simply getting lost in the unspoiled beauty that surrounds you. Sunsets here are magical!
Hikes to a local waterfall, horseback tours, mountain biking and sea kayaking are all available in the immediate area. There is also a small surf school and an impressive butterfly farm.
Day trips to surrounding developed tourist towns like Mal Pais, Samara, and Nosara provide a good distraction for shopping, sight seeing, and the chance to explore the surrounding areas.
Visit during the months of June thru December and you can witness sea turtles nesting at night and be a part of a hatchling release with local volunteers, an experience not soon forgotten.
For those who love to fish, day trips are available on the owner's boat; he is a professional guide with a lifetime of experience fishing in Costa Rica.
If you need a little pampering, and of course you deserve it so go ahead… there is a simple spa that has a wonderful selection of massages, facials, and body treatments.
