Awanui is the front door to the narrow Aupouri Peninsula which stretches to the northern tip of New Zealand at Cape Reinga. On the west coast of the peninsula is the famous Ninety Mile Beach. This stretches from Shipwreck Bay at Ahipara in the south up to just short of Cape Reinga in the north. Our area has a warm sub-tropical climate, with hundreds of kilometres of unspoiled coastline and an abundance of safe and uncrowded beaches
The Awanui Visitor Centre is located on the Twin Coast highway, right at the intersection that takes you to Cape Reinga. Staffed by friendly locals, we will give you tips and advice so your holiday with us is as frustration free as possible.
Te Ara Toi Gallery is sited inside the Awanui Visitor Centre and exhibits indigenous art. Exhibits are changed every second full moon, and all are welcome to experience the powhiri - come mix with the locals, meet the artist, and ssnack on Kai Maori. Phone Esta on 09 4067030 for more information
