Whether you are looking for a unique vacation rental for your self-catering group or want to experience our stimulating environmental residential courses, you will find this the perfect base for a relaxing holiday.
We can accommodate up to 14 people within 6 stylish bedrooms - 5 of which have private bathrooms. We welcome disabled guests - please contact us for further information about our accessible bedroom and private bathroom.
Ideally located in the south Haute-Vienne department of Limousin (10 minutes from the A20 motorway, 30 minutes south of Limoges and 4 hours south of Paris), the house can be found nestling in the heart of the peaceful village of St Germain les Belles. Step out of the door and discover everything that the village has to offer - local shops selling fine Limousin produce, restaurants, historic buildings, summer fetes, markets, the swimming lake and beach... turn away from the village, and within a few minutes you will find quiet country lanes with wild hedgerows.
This attractive village gite, or self-catering house, has been entirely renovated and furnished to a high standard. The truly beautiful interior is tasteful and bright, with many original features, stunning oak flooring and original artwork. The house also has a large private garden and dining terrace, with views out onto open countryside and buttercup meadows.
This unspoilt region of France is ideal for large families or groups of bird-watchers, artists, canoeists, walkers, cyclists... in fact, anyone who loves being surrounded by nature and wants to enjoy a 'greener holiday'. The owners of Vacances Vertes les Belles, Howard and Anna Chambers, live at the nearby farm of Las Combas and are confident that you too will be charmed by the beauty of this gorgeous part of France.
Choose from 6 stunning bedrooms...
The house has recently been restored to incorporate 6 bedrooms, 5 of which have private en-suite bathrooms. The ground-floor bedroom and bathroom are accessible for wheelchairs. We think the bedrooms are stunning - most have original oak flooring, items of furniture made from sustainable local timber, comfortable beds, and huge windows to make the most of that view. All of our beds are singles (perfect for mixed groups) but we can make any up as doubles to suit your requirements. Furthermore, we are happy to add a third single bed into two of the rooms, at no extra cost.
Every room in the house has central heating, so you can enjoy the wealth of activities that the region has to offer in winter.
We consider ourselves a 'child-friendly' holiday destination - being a young family ourselves, we understand the pressures (and pleasures!) of taking the little ones on holiday. We can provide some of those 'bulky' items that are difficult to pack for a holiday (travel cots, high-chairs, toys, baby baths, stair-gate, etc.) - just let us know what you need when booking and we will do our best to provide it.
Eat amongst friends in the kitchen...
The homely kitchen is fully equipped to meet all of your culinary needs. You will find a big gas oven and hob - useful for large groups who wish to cook and eat their food together. There are also all of the other utensils / facilities that you would expect to find in a modern kitchen - dishwasher, microwave, fridge / freezer, etc.
The centre-piece of this great kitchen has to be the huge kitchen table, which can seat up to 14 people on benches, also made from a local sustainable timber source.
We might be able to provide meals (or locally-made ready meals) for a minimum number of people - visit our Reservations page for further details.
Put your feet up in the cosy lounge...
Adjoining the kitchen is the comfortable lounge, where guests can look out onto the peaceful Limousin countryside. Here you can relax in front of the satellite television (with DVD player), or chat to friends in comfort. Both of the sofas can be converted into comfortable beds. There is also a wood-burning stove - great for reading a book in front of on a chilly winter's evening.
We are happy to provide DVDs and books for the use of our guests - including fiction and stories for children. You will also find useful wildlife reference books and games for the kids, or grown-ups!
There is access for wheelchair users to the garden.
Step outside onto the terrace and enjoy the garden...
Imagine yourself relaxing on the terrace (a real sun trap!) on a warm summer's evening, drinking the local wine and gazing at the lovely countryside beyond the house, or waking up with the early morning light and doing a spot of bird watching from your own back garden, or just playing with your children on the spacious lawn...
There is a large table and barbeque for guests who love alfresco dining.
